Overview GEO Next Generation High School is a part of a network of high-quality charter schools managed by the GEO Foundation. It joins GEO Prep Academy and GEO Prep Mid-City, delivering a high-quality K-12 learning experience to parents and students in the Baton Rouge community. GEO Next Generation High School is a tuition-free, public charter school that will begin with 9th grade and add a grade each year over the subsequent three years. Our teachers cultivate critical-thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and college. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a!Reports To / Term PrincipalFull Time 10-month positionEssential Key Functions A Classroom Assistant is required to perform the following duties:Work collaboratively and harmoniously with Lead Classroom TeacherAccept and incorporate feedback and coaching from Lead Teacher and Administrative TeamSupport established classroom rules and protocolFill in as Teacher when Lead Teacher is absent when askedMotivate and support students in reaching high levels of academic successCreate a positive student culture around online learning and small group tutoringMaintain high behavioral expectations for all studentsInterpret, manage, and utilize multiple sets of data in order to best support student progressPerform targeted individual assistance and small group tutoringAssist with the creation of individual learning plans for each student enrolledMaintain frequent communication with students and their support network regarding academic progressCommunicate and collaborate with teachers and school administratorsParticipate in staff development opportunitiesParticipate in all required staff meetingsEnsure the security of computer equipment and accessoriesPerform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by Lead Classroom Teacher and PrincipalRequirements Required Qualifications Associate or higher with a minimum GPA of 3.0Desire to grow professionallyCommitment to the mission and organizational goals of GEO AcademiesPreferred Qualifications 3 years' experience working with children in an urban settingAt least 9 hours concentrated in Math, ELA or ReadingExperience or familiarity in one of the following areas:Blended LearningOnline learning / coursework#J-18808-Ljbffr
