Job Position: Medical Receptionist

Location: Baton Rouge, LA 70806

Pay Rate: $15/hr-$17/hr Depending on Experience

Shift: M-F 8:30a-5:00p
Status: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Medical Office Receptionist / MOHIT / Medical Office Specialist is responsible for delivering an exceptional patient experience while ensuring efficient front-office workflow. This role requires professionalism, accuracy, strong communication skills, and adherence to all clinic policies, HIPAA regulations, and customer-service standards. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced medical environment.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 2 years of clerical or front-office experience; medical office experience

preferred.
• Medical Office certification (MOHIT, Medical Office Specialist, or equivalent) is a plus.
• Strong communication, customer-service, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic proficiency with computers, EMR systems, and office equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Patient Interaction & Customer Service
• Greet each patient with courtesy, respect, and professionalism upon arrival.
• Answer telephones in a pleasant, courteous manner and process all messages within 2 rings.
• Maintain a calm, professional demeanor when addressing patient concerns, complaints, or scheduling needs.
• Notify appropriate staff promptly of any errors, patient concerns, or workflow issues.
• Uphold integrity and confidentiality at all times. Scheduling & Workflow Management
• Schedule appointments efficiently and accurately according to provider protocols.
• Update providers immediately regarding schedule changes, cancellations, or urgent add-ons.
• Maintain a minimum of 90 - 100 patients per week on the schedule or more, based on clinic expectations.
• Verify and review upcoming schedules with the provider daily to ensure readiness and accuracy. • Prioritize daily tasks and complete all required duties before the end of each shift.

Administrative & Clerical Duties
• Create and maintain patient files with correct forms, insurance information, and required documentation.
• File all documents in a timely and organized manner.
• Perform various data-entry tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Take payments for copays, deductibles, no-show fees, and other charges; issue receipts appropriately.
• Adhere strictly to office policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
• Keep work area neat, tidy, and professional at all times. days of employment.
