Custodian Supervisor A

This position is responsible for supervising multiple units under 320,000 square feet with a custodial staff consisting of Custodian 3's and a minimum of 8-15 custodial I and II employees. Responsibilities include the managing of employees, maintain environmental standards, property and equipment management, purchasing supplies, support for conference housing, and general overall care of assigned facilities in support of our customer. Basic computer skills are required as the supervisor must communicate via email, use a work order management system, and personnel records.

55% Schedules work assignment and cleaning duties. Issues supplies, tools, and equipment. Inputs service requests through the work order management system MAXIMO. Conducts Quarterly building inspections and lighting surveys. Assists in managing the pest control program. Works closely with vendors, suppliers, and visitors. Conducts quality control checks to ensure levels of cleanliness are met. Assists with orientation and conducts on-the-job training for employees in proper methods. Responsible for ordering and distributing cleaning supplies for employees. Assists in the managing for annual budget. Required to prepare purchase requests for monthly supplies, receive, complete, and close purchase orders. Receives deliveries, noting back ordered items and/or omissions and recording discrepancies through the purchasing system. Maintains and manages the uniform program and safety equipment for each custodial employee. Required to supervise weekend employee and participate on an on-call emergency team. Support in other departmental areas related to custodial supervision.

20% Creates and maintains permanent personnel records of each custodian's attendance and work time. Submits payroll time sheets and distributes payroll deposit slips bi-weekly. Assists in the interviewing and selection process of custodial applicants. Acts as liaison for custodial staff with Residential Life administration and Human Resource Management. Conducts procedural discipline duties. Evaluates staff formerly on job performance through University policy and procedures yearly.

10% Maintains the key inventory and records daily for keys assigned to area of responsibility which is used in the security of administrative and residential buildings. Assists in the security and safety measures for each building through visual checks, reported issues, and work order management. Responsible for the property control of all furnishings and equipment through both visual and an establish inventory management system for all recorded items in compliance with the Departmental, University, and State regulations

10% Works closely with Residential Life staff in managing conference housing and summer groups assigned within area of responsibility. Manages linens, laundering services, supplies and required equipment for temporary conference housing programs. Managerial requirements become hotel oriented with fast pace cleaning and frequent replenishing. Communication with various area personnel, temporary guests, and vendors is essential.

5% Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

Special Requirements:

Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP: HR-04. Per PS 18- Employee may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure. Must be capable of walking around a 10,000 square foot building multiple times daily. Must also be able to ascend and descend the stairs of a (5) story building multiple times daily and stand for extended period of time.
