Job Overview
AMMON Staffing is recruiting a Transportation Coordinator for a local office-based logistics position in Baton Rouge, LA.
This is a full-time, Monday-Friday office role responsible for coordinating carrier scheduling, supporting chemical shipment activity, communicating with internal teams and third-party carriers, and assisting with reporting and issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Scheduling and coordinating multiple carriers for shipments across various facilities
Locating carrier capacity for open shipments
Tendering shipment notifications to third-party carriers
Working within a customized Transportation Management System
Communicating with carriers, clients, internal departments, and management
Monitoring shipment activity and assisting with daily exception resolution
Tracking and reporting non-conformances
Supporting logistics management and client management teams
Performing data entry, tracking, analysis, and reporting
Using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for daily communication and documentation
Maintaining accurate records and following established procedures
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, transportation scheduling, dispatching, or customer service preferred
Stable work history and a strong interest in long-term employment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
Strong attention to detail and follow-through
Proficiency with basic computer operations
Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel
Ability to work independently at an assigned desk/account while also supporting the larger team
Experience with chemical shipments, hazardous materials, or carrier coordination is a plus
Preferred Background
2 years of college or equivalent work experience preferred
Previous experience in a transportation, logistics, scheduling, dispatch, carrier coordination, or customer service office role preferred
Prior experience working with Transportation Management Systems is a plus
Experience with chemical shipments or hazardous materials is a plus
