This is skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of automotive transportation and other light vehicles operated by the School Board. Services and repairs automobiles, buses, trucks and other motorized equipment to include servicing, preventive maintenance, and component repair or overhaul. Repairs and replaces broken springs, stop signals, door opening mechanisms, and minor body and fender repairs, etc. Performs tasks such as grinding valves, setting tappets, adjusting and lining brakes, repairing universal joints, steering gears and hydraulic brake systems, etc. Performs road test on vehicles after repair. Performs basic diagnostic testing as necessary. Performs legible documentation of repairs on work orders. Makes service calls to disabled vehicles in the field. Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of the position.
