Typically 3 years and above documented field experience in chosen craft discipline with ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan and perform work activities independently.
Apply, remove, and repair insulation on equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, hot and cold pipes, storage tanks and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
Job requirements include working within precise limits or standards of accuracy, applying shop mathematics to solve problems, planning work and selecting proper tools, comparing and seeing differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects, visualizing objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings, making decisions based on measurable criteria, and working at heights without fear.
Qualifications may require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Physical requirements include standing 70% of the time, walking 20%, sitting 10%, lifting and carrying 50 lbs, pushing and pulling 70 ft-lb, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering.
