Description:

Our client is one of the oldest restaurant equipment supply dealers in Baton Rouge and is on the hunt for new technicians to grow their team due to an increase of new clients in the area for both the Kitchen Fire Suppression/Fire Extinguisher and Commercial Kitchen Service side of the house.

Position Overview

This role is well-suited for individuals with military experience in mechanical, electrical, or facilities maintenance. The position involves installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mission-critical commercial kitchen and refrigeration systems. Technicians ensure operational readiness of equipment in high-demand environments such as restaurants, hotels, and institutional facilities.

Core Responsibilities

Diagnostics & Repair:

Apply systematic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and gas-related faults in equipment such as ovens, fryers, grills, steamers, dishwashers, and refrigeration units.

Preventive Maintenance:

Conduct scheduled inspections, cleaning, and calibration to maintain peak equipment performance and reduce operational downtime-similar to preventive maintenance programs used in military operations.

Installation & Commissioning:

Install, configure, and test new equipment to ensure full operational capability and compliance with safety standards.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate service records, parts usage logs, and labor reports using digital systems, reflecting the importance of accountability and traceability.

Customer Communication:

Provide clear, professional updates to clients and team members regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and recommendations-paralleling chain-of-command communication standards.

Inventory & Equipment Readiness:

Manage service vehicle inventory, ensuring tools and parts are mission-ready for efficient field operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Proficiency:

Strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems. Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams-skills commonly developed in military technical roles (e.g., maintenance, engineering, utilities).

Certifications:

EPA Refrigerant Certification required for work on refrigeration systems (training support may be available for qualified candidates).

Experience:

Background in equipment repair, facilities maintenance, HVAC, or similar technical fields. Military occupational specialties (MOS/ratings) with relevant experience are highly valued.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 50-75 lbs, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and operate in varying environmental conditions-similar to field or operational settings.

Licensing:

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Work Environment

Independent, field-based role requiring travel to multiple sites.

Participation in an on-call rotation to support urgent service needs.
