Job description:

The Special Education Teacher will:

Plan and provide specially designed instruction to students receiving special education and related services.

Collaborate with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modifications

Draft and maintain IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and potentially evaluation paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines

Plan and facilitate meetings throughout the special education process

Communicate and collaborate with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.

Manage the transition of new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be proficient in the use of technology.

Great Hearts teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to and love for classical education

Education and Other Requirements:

Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university (transcripts required)

Candidates must hold a valid Louisiana Department of Education certification in Special Education (mild to moderate, cross-categorical, learning disability, or intern/alternative)

Candidates must pass a Louisiana Department of Education background check including fingerprint clearance

Experience:

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of successful Special Education teaching experience in a K-12 school setting, preferably in a SPED classroom, but we will consider candidates with only resource experience
