We are hiring a strong, execution-driven Project Manager to lead structural steel fabrication projects from contract award through close-out.
This is a hands-on operational leadership role managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
The Role
The Project Manager is responsible for driving schedule, coordinating detailing and production flow, managing customer communication, and ensuring project execution aligns with contract requirements.
You will work directly with customers, detailing, production, subcontractors, estimating, finance, and executive leadership to keep projects moving forward efficiently and professionally.
Success in this role requires organization, urgency, accountability, and the ability to manage competing priorities without constant oversight.
Core Responsibilities
Project Execution
- Conduct contract and specification reviews
- Lead kickoff and pre-fabrication meetings
- Develop and actively manage project schedules
- Drive RFIs, shop drawings, erection drawings, and detailing flow
- Align fabrication timelines with customer requirements
Client & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as primary point of contact for customers
- Lead progress meetings and provide schedule updates
- Coordinate engineers, detailers, subcontractors, production, estimating, and finance
- Escalate risks before they impact schedule or performance
Change & Cost Coordination
- Identify, initiate, and track change order requests
- Maintain accurate change documentation and logs
- Coordinate budget matters and billing schedules with internal teams
- Proactively surface contract concerns
Delivery & Close-Out
- Coordinate delivery schedules with production
- Manage subcontractor activities
- Facilitate organized project close-out
- Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience in fabrication, construction, or manufacturing
- Strong preference for structural steel industry experience
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications
- Experience with Tekla, SDS2, Bluebeam, Trimble, MS Excel, or similar systems
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Valid driver's license
