PALA Interstate, LLC

PALA Interstate, LLC is seeking an Industrial Estimator to support estimating activities for shop-fabricated ASME pressure vessels, API storage tanks, and other heavy steel equipment serving the petrochemical, energy, and industrial markets.

This position will be responsible for developing detailed cost estimates and proposals for fabrication projects, working closely with engineering, procurement, and shop operations to ensure accurate and competitive bids.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of estimating or fabrication experience in industrial construction or steel fabrication, or a Construction Management, Engineering, or related technical degree, along with a strong understanding of fabrication practices and applicable industry codes such as ASME Section VIII and API 650.

Experience estimating shop-fabricated steel equipment is strongly preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare cost estimates for ASME pressure vessels, API storage tanks, and other shop-fabricated equipment
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and technical requirements
• Perform material quantity take-offs from engineering and fabrication drawings
• Develop estimates for:
  • Plate, pipe, fittings, and structural steel
  • Shop fabrication labor hours
  • Equipment, consumables, and subcontracted services
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and shop personnel to determine fabrication methods and production rates
• Develop bid summaries and assist with proposal preparation
• Participate in internal bid review meetings
• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information
• Support project teams with estimate reconciliation and cost comparisons when projects are awarded

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• • 4+ years of estimating experience in pressure vessels or shop fabricated tanks

OR

• • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication details
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• • Experience estimating ASME Section VIII pressure vessels
  • Experience estimating API 650 storage tanks
  • Experience estimating shop-fabricated steel equipment
  • Familiarity with rolled plate fabrication, welding, machining, and heavy steel assembly
  • Knowledge of industrial fabrication practices and shop workflows
  • Experience working with estimating software or ERP systems
