The OCI Speech Science team is at the forefront of developing groundbreaking applications like Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-To-Speech (TTS), Speech-To-Speech (S2S) translation, and conversational AI, targeting a variety of enterprise needs around the world.

As a Senior Applied Scientist with the OCI Generative AI Science team, you will collaborate with a skilled team of scientists and engineers to research, develop, and enhance AI models for speech and conversational applications. This role offers the chance to expand your expertise while significantly contributing to the deployment of AI services for Oracle's global clients.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and rigorously evaluate advanced deep learning models for speech applications including recognition, synthesis, translation, and conversational AI.
• Take full ownership of specific project components; lead the process from initial research and data analysis, through experimental validation and prototype development, to scalable solution delivery.
• Collaborate with fellow applied scientists, engineers, and product managers to introduce innovative technical ideas and strategies to core OCI Speech Science initiatives.
• Conduct comprehensive error analysis and troubleshooting to continuously improve model performance and reliability.
• Create and maintain thorough technical documentation, draft experimental reports, and present findings effectively in team meetings.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI/ML and speech/language technologies to identify and integrate practical applications in OCI products.
• Adhere to best practices regarding responsible AI, model validation, and data security.

Qualifications & Experience

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Linguistics, or related fields, with specialization in machine learning, speech processing, NLP, or AI.
• Alternatively, a Master's degree combined with significant research or project experience in these areas.
• Up to 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience, whether in an academic or industry setting.
• Demonstrated capability in independently advancing research or applied projects from concept through to implementation and analysis.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python and familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Practical experience in ASR, TTS, S2S translation, conversational AI, or related NLP topics.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities in the domains of AI/ML and speech/language processing.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, particularly in technical documentation and presentations.
• A collaborative mindset with a proactive approach in a dynamic team environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

The hiring range is between $97,500 and $199,500, with eligibility for bonuses and equity.
