Position Overview: As a Technical Lead of the Galileo team, you will play a crucial role in building and enhancing the testing and evaluation infrastructure for vehicle release and autonomous driving stack validation. Your focus will be on creating efficient data processing pipelines for large-scale analysis, shaping the technical vision and strategy, and ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.

About the Organization: The GM AV Simulation team is committed to developing leading-edge testing and analysis technologies that propel the development of autonomous vehicles and enhance vehicle software capabilities. Our diverse customers range from AV developers to data engineers, all utilizing our innovative solutions to gain insights and track performance metrics. The Galileo team is dedicated to constructing the foundational infrastructure that supports rigorous testing at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical architect, defining the technical vision and ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Design and implement systems that support the simulation of millions of driving miles daily to assess on-road performance.
  • Enhance software reliability through continuous integration, automated testing, and comprehensive code reviews.
  • Promote software engineering best practices within the team and develop tools to uphold these standards across the organization.
  • Lead the development of top-tier software engineers within a fast-paced, inclusive environment.
  • Contribute to defining and embodying GM's engineering culture and principles.

Desired Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or relevant field.
  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality software with a strong focus on customer-driven operational excellence.
  • Comprehensive exposure to the product engineering stack, from frontend to infrastructure.
  • Experience with SOA or microservice architectures, large-scale distributed systems, and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for leading, mentoring, and promoting best practices.
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, Node, React, or other web development languages and frameworks.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases and data warehouse technologies like BigQuery or Amazon Redshift.
  • Genuine passion for self-driving technology and its transformative potential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A background in robotics, ROS, or experience in the AV/ADAS industry.
  • Experience with scientific analysis.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines and workflows that support data science initiatives.
  • Experience creating high-quality developer productivity tools.
  • Experience writing modern production C++ applications.
  • Proven ability to develop quality software under strict latency and performance requirements.
  • Experience with safety-critical code development.

Location Requirements: This position allows for remote work; however, candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of GM locations in Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford, or Mountain View should anticipate in-office attendance three times per week, at a minimum.

Relocation Benefits: This position may qualify for relocation assistance.

On successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, candidates may participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, which includes being assigned a General Motors vehicle for evaluation purposes.
