Authorized Inspector
Bureau Veritas is seeking a hardworking, observant, and mechanically inclined inspector for the metal fabrication and pressure vessel industry. This role involves performing ASME and National Board shop and field inspection services, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and requirements, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Inspection Services:
- Perform ASME and National Board shop and field inspections at assigned client locations. Review and verify code-required activities, ensuring compliance with the manufacturer's written quality control system. Witness all required tests and document inspection activities per established policies.
- Monitor client quality control systems for compliance with applicable codes and requirements. Ensure adherence to relevant sections of the ASME Code, the National Board Inspection Code, and jurisdictional requirements for boiler and pressure vessel construction and repair.
Knowledge and Training:
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of applicable sections of the ASME Code, the National Board Code, and jurisdictional regulations. Enhance knowledge through self-study, internal training, and approved courses. Complete a 2-week preparatory training course provided by Bureau Veritas on ASME Sections I, IV, V, VIII, IX, and B31.1 (if not already certified).
Certification Requirements:
- Obtain a National Board Authorized Inspector Commission with "R" Endorsement, which requires: -Attendance at a 72-hour course and a 32-hour course provided by the National Board. -Passing two exams administered by the National Board. -Completing 80 hours of on-the-job training with another Commissioned Inspector. -Alternatively, candidates with an existing National Board Authorized Inspector Commission with "R" Endorsement are eligible.
Required Education and/or Experience:
14 years of demonstrated experience in the boiler and pressure vessel industry, such as design, fabrication, operation, repair, alteration, inspection, nondestructive examination, or quality control system oversight.
Competencies:
- Ability to read, write, speak clearly, and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in using a computer and performing basic arithmetic.
- Strong understanding and interpretation of boiler and pressure vessel codes.
- Excellent client interaction and decision-making skills.
- Adherence to established company policies, directives, and procedures.
- Accurate and timely reporting of results for assigned activities.
Compensation:
Trainee: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour Fully Credentialed: Negotiable based on credentials and experience. $78,000 - $82,000 per year
