Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
This position occasionally acts as a lead worker on projects assigned to him by the Port Facility Maintenance Foreman in the repair and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and appliances owned by the Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission. Maintains and repairs Port buildings, facilities, appliances, motorized equipment, and tools.
- Maintains buildings as directed by the Port Facility Maintenance Foreman-makes building repairs as needed, builds additions to existing buildings, constructs shelves and tables (metal & wood), makes plumbing repairs and electrical repairs; performs carpentry duties; makes daily & regular scheduled maintenance on mechanical parts of heaters, air conditioners, lighting systems, etc.; performs various other building maintenance& repair work as needed.
- Provides direction and performs a wide variety of port maintenance projects that require the use of welders and Port Facility Maintenance Specialists
- Inspects, repairs, and reports on facilities as assigned - Inspects and maintains the port's water systems
- Repairs small engines such as chain saws, appliances, welding machines, compressors, grass cutting equipment, etc
- Operates and maintains the Port's heavy equipment, such as compressors, mowing machines, forklifts, welding machines, backhoes, bulldozers, and dump trucks.
Appointment Type: Probational
Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Thursday.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
