ASSIGNMENT PERIOD

260 days

II. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE

Performs a wide variety of maintenance related activities as an assistant to carpenters, electricians, plumbers and painters.

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION - 8th grade education or its equivalent.
B. EXPERIENCE - 0 to 6 months of basic work experience
C. SKILLS - Basic knowledge of maintenance related activities.

D. OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must be physically capable of lifting in excess of 25 pounds on a continual basis. This position requires some manual dexterity with close mental/visual attention and the ability to perform job functions in a standing position for a majority of the work day. This position is exposed to environmental extremes on a daily basis. This position also requires the ability to perform climbing activities. IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs maintenance and repair functions under the direction of the appropriate skilled personnel. These functions include, but are not limited to, floor preparation (stripping, waxing and buffing floors), cleaning windows/base boards and promptly removing graffiti from walls.
  2. Assists in the maintenance of equipment and inventories.
  3. Cleans the jobsite upon the completion of the activity.
  4. Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.
  5. Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  6. Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
  7. Performs other services as required.
