JOB TITLE: Maintenance Helper JOB TYPE: 726, 732 POSITION REPORTS TO: Maintenance Foreman or Grounds Maintenance Foreman PAY GRADE: MNT-1 FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt ASSIGNMENT PERIOD 260 daysII. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSEPerforms a wide variety of maintenance related activities as an assistant to carpenters, electricians, plumbers and painters.III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION - 8th grade education or its equivalent.B. EXPERIENCE - 0 to 6 months of basic work experienceC. SKILLS - Basic knowledge of maintenance related activities.D. OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must be physically capable of lifting in excess of 25 pounds on a continual basis. This position requires some manual dexterity with close mental/visual attention and the ability to perform job functions in a standing position for a majority of the work day. This position is exposed to environmental extremes on a daily basis. This position also requires the ability to perform climbing activities.IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Performs maintenance and repair functions under the direction of the appropriate skilled personnel. These functions include, but are not limited to, floor preparation (stripping, waxing and buffing floors), cleaning windows/base boards and promptly removing graffiti from walls.* Assists in the maintenance of equipment and inventories.* Cleans the jobsite upon the completion of the activity.* Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.* Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.* Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.
