A position as Postdoctoral or Senior Postdoctoral Researcher is available in the Ultrafast AMO Theory group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Louisiana State University. The group includes 3 faculty (Profs. M.B. Gaarde, F. Mauger, and K.J. Schafer) and about twice as many junior members (Students and Postdocs). The selected candidate will participate in theoretical studies of ultrafast electron and nuclear dynamics in molecules subjected to strong and short light pulses.
Responsibilities: Participate in theoretical studies of ultrafast electron and nuclear dynamics in molecules subjected to strong and short light pulses. The researcher will be primarily responsible for the development and application of large-scale calculations to describe ultrafast coupled electron and nuclear dynamics in molecules, as well as their interaction with strong/short light pulses as a means to induce and probe these dynamics (90% effort). A Senior Postdoctoral Researcher will also have support for independent research which will be determined by its relationship to currently funded research, as well as its potential for opening new avenues of investigation. Publication, conference, and student supervision (10% effort both Postdoctoral or Senior Postdoctoral Researchers): Additional duties include assisting in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate work in the Ultrafast AMO Theory group at LSU. The researcher is expected to regularly publish papers in the refereed literature, and to attend at least one professional meeting each year to present the results of this research.
Minimum qualifications: Both PhD in physics, chemistry or a related field. (Sr. postdoctoral researcher) 3 years of related work experience. Preferred qualifications: Candidate with a background in ultrafast and/or computational AMO theory, time-dependent quantum dynamics, or large-scale computations will have first consideration.
Special Instructions: Please provide cover letter, resume, and the contact information for three professional references. Please attach ALL required documents under the "Resume/CV" section of your application. For questions or additional information regarding the position, please contact Dr. F. Mauger at ...@lsu.edu.
