Plant Operator Opportunity

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Plant Operator for a direct hire opportunity in Baton Rouge, LA. The Operator will be operating and maintaining chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, and other plant equipment. The role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations while optimizing plant performance and reliability. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong troubleshooting skills, and demonstrates a high level of ownership and intellectual curiosity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain plant equipment to ensure reliability and minimize unplanned outages.
• Perform routine maintenance programs and assist in troubleshooting plant, distribution, and interface systems.
• Follow plant operational procedures to meet production goals and monitor system performance.
• Investigate and report plant outages, optimizing downtime and reliability.
• Develop proficiency in automation, power, and interface systems.
• Participate in shift rotations, including 24-hour emergency coverage as needed.
• Track and log operational data using control system tools, identify trends, and recommend adjustments.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Responsibilities:

• Promote and maintain a safe work environment, ensuring all employees go home injury-free.
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial, and Environmental regulations and company HSE policies.
• Identify and report workplace hazards and provide solutions when possible.
• Immediately report all work-related injuries or illnesses to supervisors.

Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical coursework or certifications in plant operations preferred.
• 310 years experience in operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of central heating and cooling plants.
• Experience with plant automation, startup, commissioning, energy management, and CHP/cogeneration is a plus.
• Strong proficiency with hand and power tools, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, outdoors, and in varying environmental conditions.
• Knowledge of PPE requirements and safety protocols.
• Highly analytical with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
