Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience as a DPS Police Officer; OR Six years of law enforcement experience as a POST-certified peace officer with the powers of arrest. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Possession of a current driver's license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Safeguard the infrastructure that supports law enforcement operations, ensuring that both personnel and assets are protected from potential threats or breaches.
  • Responsible for overseeing access control systems, monitoring surveillance equipment, and coordinating emergency response protocols to maintain a high level of security at all times.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing necessary improvements to enhance security measures.
  • Ensure that critical operations continue without disruption, providing peace of mind for those who work within these facilities and the public they serve.

Position-Specific Details:

  • Appointment Type: This is a Promotional opportunity for permanent DPS/Office of State Police employees only.
  • Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
  • Work Schedule: Work hours vary.
  • Location: This vacancy is located in East Baton Rouge Parish.
  • Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The bi-weekly rate for this position is as follows: DPS Police Sergeant (PS113) - $1,888.00
