The position of Tourism Assistant Director supports the Tourism Director with administering and managing of the statewide Welcome Center Program. The Assistant Director position directly manages the managers at each of the Welcome Center sites. The Louisiana Office of Tourism operates a statewide network of Welcome Centers that receive over 1 million visitors annually and are one of the most vital instruments in convincing travelers to visit more of the state by providing detailed and current information on activities, attractions, restaurants, and lodging as well as responding to a wide array of questions asked by visitors. Their primary focus is on the day-to-day operations including maintenance, training, customer service and employee relations at the 8 Louisiana Office of Tourism Welcome Centers. The Tourism Assistant Director also advises the Tourism Director in planning for the Welcome Center Program including Major Repairs, Capital Outlay Requests, and the overall Strategic Plan for the Welcome Center Program.
Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Travel: This position requires frequent travel to statewide Welcome Centers and occasional out of state travel.
