Laborer

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of a full-time Laborer located within the Facilities Services Division to perform basic maintenance tasks throughout BRCC's campus. Minimum Qualifications No experience or training is required.

Job Duties:

  • Performs basic maintenance tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, changing light bulbs, cleaning mechanical spaces, assisting with minor repairs, clearing debris, and supporting routine building upkeep.
  • Assists with outdoor work including trash removal, light landscaping, pressure washing, walkway cleaning, and maintaining exterior campus areas.
  • Moves furniture, equipment, and materials; assists with event setups; delivers supplies across departments; and supports work requiring physical labor.
  • Follows safety procedures, uses proper PPE, reports hazards, and maintains clean, safe work areas.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Provides additional labor support to maintenance staff as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Position-Specific Details:

  • Appointment Type: Probationary appointment with a one-year agency probationary period. Successful completion of this period is required before obtaining permanent status.
  • Compensation: Anticipated starting salary will be commensurate with education and work experience.
