Senior Nuclear Equipment Operator - RBS

Under directive supervision, must be able to assume responsibility for the operation of the equipment included in a central controlled turbo?generator?nuclear boiler system with its associated auxiliaries and functions during a specific shift, and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned:

  • Place in service, or remove from service, and operate in a safe manner, turbo?generator and nuclear boiler systems and related auxiliary equipment such as valves, traps, regulators, desuperheaters, heaters, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and related piping systems containing water, steam, air, and other fluids or gases, station service electric circuits, oil circuit breakers, air circuit breakers, disconnecting switches, transformers, storage batteries, motor generator sets, indicating and recording instruments, reactor feed and heater drain pump, etc.
  • Check bearing temperatures and equipment for proper operation.
  • Record operating data on log sheets as required.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping as per applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission endorsed regulations and standards.
  • Comply with established procedures and with rules of Code of Federal Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, National Standards and other regulatory agencies.
  • Participate and maintain satisfactory progress in all aspects of training and requalification programs.

Understand principles of operation, function, and construction of nuclear boilers, turbo?generators, temperature, pressure and level regulators, their controls and auxiliary equipment.

Have practical knowledge of the principles of operation of rotating electrical equipment and appurtenant apparatus.

Have a complete mental picture and be able to sketch from memory a flow diagram of main piping systems.

Have ability to understand and perform semi?routine operations of considerable complexity and variety where standard methods of procedure are available.

Know Company's safety rules, and be able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be able to render practical first aid.

Know the location of, and be able to operate, all of the firefighting equipment. Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil, and other fires.

Achieve satisfactory results in all applicable portions of the Nuclear Plant Training program and obtain/maintain a valid reactor operator license issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or applicable regulatory agency.

Desired: Technical Degree such as: Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or similar preferred

Pass physical examination for Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulation 396, "Certificate of Physical Exam" and Guide 1.134, "Medical Evaluation of Nuclear Power Plant Personnel Requiring Operator Licenses".

Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.

Be willing to attend and take part in safety meetings.

Be willing to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.

Be willing to work irregular or extra hours as required.

Be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of both superiors and subordinates.

Be especially neat, clean and orderly in work and person.

Understand importance of always rendering and maintaining first class, courteous service to all customers.

Be willing to attend and meet all annual requalification training requirements in all areas of operation.

Successful completion of the EEI POSS test.
