2-Year Postdoctoral Researcher

The postdoctoral researcher will work as a member of a team that seeks to assess the role that biodegradation and biotransformation may play in determining the environmental fate of amines, nitrosamines, and nitramines associated with carbon capture and sequestration.

Duties will include the use of culture-based techniques to enrich, isolate, and characterize bacteria, the use of DNA-based techniques to characterize microbial populations, bioinformatics, training of undergraduate and graduate students, and preparation of research publications.

Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Microbiology, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Microbiology, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Experience in performing nucleic acid-based analyses (DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR), the use and interpretation of next-generation sequencing approaches, culture of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, bacterial taxonomy, bioinformatics, and analytical tools for chemical analyses. Additional desired qualifications include a record of prior publishing activities and excellent communication skills.
