Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Maintenance Repairer Master. The Maintenance Repairer Master is located within the Facility Services Department. This is a full-time position. One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.
Job Duties:
* Inspect and approve the work performed by contractors to ensure it meets quality and safety standards.
* Provide day-to-day guidance and support to maintenance staff as needed.
* Review assigned work orders and confirm that the proper tools, equipment, and materials are available for daily tasks.
* Plan the sequence of work and assign tasks to team members to keep projects on schedule.
* Work alongside the maintenance team and set the pace for completing tasks efficiently.
* Maintain required records, logs, and documentation for your supervisor.
* Perform major repairs, replacements, installations, and modifications on HVAC and refrigeration systems of various sizes.
* Fabricate or repair metal components for plant operations or production machinery.
* Repair high- and low-pressure gas, steam, and water systems.
* Perform specialized welding, including work with aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel.
* Serve as a lead worker by assisting with the training and development of maintenance staff.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probationary appointment with a one-year agency probationary period. Successful completion of this period is required before obtaining permanent status.
