Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated individuals to work in either the shipping or receiving areas. The role involves packaging and shipping electrical supplies, which can range from small labeled boxes to large electrical spools with wiring. These items will be processed internally for inventory or shipped to clients and loaded onto trucks or flatbeds. The position requires basic scanner and computer skills to input products into the computer system, set up shipments, coordinate with vendors, and track inventory. Candidates will unpack/pack all orders and verify the accuracy of items.

Responsibilities

• Work in the shipping or receiving areas.

• Package and ship electrical supplies, including small boxes and large spools.

• Unload trucks and input products into the computer system.

• Use computer systems to set up shipments and coordinate with vendors.

• Track inventory and verify the accuracy of all orders.

• Unpack and pack all orders.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience in shipping/receiving.

• Proficiency in using computer systems.

• Basic scanner and computer skills.

• Ability to do simple math and pay attention to detail.

• Valid driver's license.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with inventory control, SAP, and cycle counts.

• Familiarity with material handling, RF scanners, and forklifts.

• Ability to lift heavy items.

• Strong communication skills and ability to articulate well.

Work Environment

The position is based in a dry warehouse equipped with fans. While it is not air-conditioned, the insulation helps maintain a comfortable temperature. Employees are expected to wear work pants, steel-toed boots, and basic shirts. The standard working hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm or 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the possibility of working weekends and extended shifts when necessary.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baton Rouge, LA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
