Responsibilities
- Evaluate customer needs based on application requirements, current capacity, and growth trends.
- Deliver engineering specifications, assist with functional specifications, and collaborate on technical design and specifications for projects and initiatives.
- Analyze, design, test, document, and implement solutions for continuous data availability, integrity, backup, and protection.
- Provide technical services for customers in highly complex backup environments and demonstrate the ability to assess technical impact to the project or new technology along with technical risks.
- Resolve complex problems with little or no guidance; research and promote independent, specialized technical solutions.
- Analyze complex issues utilizing in-depth evaluation of variable factors and data.
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of recent experience in backup engineering with knowledge of Rubrik, StorageGrid, Symantec NetBackup, and DataDomain, as well as overall backup technologies.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; minimum of Associate's degree is required.
- Experience with enterprise data protection and disaster recovery solutions and an understanding of enterprise application data management requirements; knowledge of storage solutions from EMC, NetApp, Pure, and similar technologies.
- Ability to design and implement new data protection solutions, manage change, and add backup policies in a large‑scale, mission‑critical, multi‑PB storage environment.
- Strong organizational skills are necessary.
- Great planning, interpersonal, problem‑solving, and leadership skills are required; excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation, are necessary; active listening skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in environments dealing with ambiguity.
