Job Summary

The University of New Orleans is seeking a professional to manage inventory and property within the Lab Services Bureau. This role involves communication with lab management, tracking supplies, preparing inventory reports, and ensuring the lab's inventory is sufficient and well-organized.

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with lab management about inventory/property issues
  • Working with management on missing or damaged products
  • Tracking incoming supplies
  • Preparing strategies for inventory/property control processes
  • Preparing inventory/property management reports
  • Tracking inventory/property data via LaGov software
  • Keeping the inventory/property clean and organized
  • Resolving stock transit problems
  • Presenting inventory/property reports to higher management
  • Evaluating and managing stock rotation procedures
  • Placing inventory/property restock orders
  • Counting products in inventory/property regularly
  • Updating the inventory/property database daily
  • Identifying discrepancies in inventory/property reports
  • Maintaining count accuracy both physically and digitally
  • Using software to track and maintain stock
  • Maintaining inventory/property storage space
  • Planning storage location space usage
  • Supervising stock rotation procedures
  • Ensuring stock is received and organized properly
  • Helping train staff in stocking procedures and product dating methods
  • Monitoring equipment maintenance purchase orders
  • Performing demographic data entry of Newborn sample Labl0 form
  • Communicating with submitter and NBS staff regarding PKU sample issues
  • Performing User Assigned Test when software changes are warranted
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills
  • Great attention to detail and follow up
  • Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities
  • Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Desired:

  • Advanced degree
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience specializing in inventory control or property control
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience performing data entry duties
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience preparing and presenting reports
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience with state property guidelines
