SAP Logistics Coordinator (Office-Based)

Description:

This is an office-based coordination role using SAP to manage order flow, shipment scheduling, and shipping documentation between corporate teams, carriers, and nearby petrochemical facilities. The position partners closely with Operations and Customer Service while monitoring carrier arrivals, clearing exceptions in SAP, and keeping stakeholders informed. (Client's internal title: "Traffic Coordinator.")

Not a warehouse/labor position. No picking, packing, or forklift work.

Location: Baton Rouge, LA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (training schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Type: Full-time, long-term opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Create/update deliveries and shipments in SAP (ECC/S/4HANA); track orders through the OTC process and resolve common holds/blocks.
  • Coordinate daily pickups/deliveries with carriers and plant contacts; monitor ETAs and cut-offs; escalate delays.
  • Prepare/maintain shipping docs (BOLs, COAs, packing lists, delivery notes) and route copies to Customer Service.
  • Maintain arrival/departure logs; verify driver and pickup details per SOP; provide site directions when needed.
  • Prioritize loads with the Operations team; align paperwork timing so docks are staged correctly.
  • Run daily status reports (open orders, unshipped deliveries, late carrier arrivals), share updates if a carrier misses the 3 PM cutoff, and ensure POD capture.
  • Keep shipment data accurate (ship-to, carrier codes, Incoterms); upload/organize shipping photos per policy.
  • Champion safety/quality and adhere to plant, transportation, and documentation standards.

Minimum Qualifications (Must-Haves)
  • 1+ year using SAP in logistics/order management/shipping (or equivalent E/ERP transaction experience).
  • 1+ year in an office-based logistics/traffic/transportation coordination role.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, and Excel; strong organization and follow-through. JO - Traffic Coordinator
  • Clear background; able to pass a drug screen.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (to access petrochemical sites / travel between nearby locations).
  • Work authorization in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with common SAP transactions (e.g., VA01/02, VL01N/02, MIGO/MIRO, IDOCs) and basic exception clearing.
  • Experience coordinating with petrochemical plants, hazardous materials documentation, or 3PL/carrier networks.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, appointment scheduling, and POD/claims basics.
