Job Focus Areas:
At LDOE, our mission is to ensure that all children from birth to four will lead the way to kindergarten readiness.
We're looking for a Licensing Consultantto serve as the first point of contact at the agency for potential and licensed providers to assist with explaining rules, and regulations, standards and agency policies to licensees. This position will require processing of applications for licensure, renewal, and change request as well as compiling information derived from inspections, preparing reports on results of inspections, describing need for improvement or revision of facility operations, and formulating recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications
Seven years of experience in hospital, nursing home, or day care center administration, early childhood development program regulation, social services, administrative services, or education; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in hospital, nursing home, or day care center administration, early childhood development program regulation, social services, administrative services, or education; OR
A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in hospital, nursing home, or day care center administration, early childhood development program regulation, social services, administrative services, or education; OR
An advanced degree plus three years of experience in hospital, nursing home, or day care center administration, early childhood development program regulation, social services, administrative services, or education.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.
This position requires the incumbent to travel.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As a Licensing Consultant, you'll help create a positive first impression for every person whom you correspond with. In this role, you will:
Review and process all applications for licensure, renewal applications, and change requests.
Review inspection reports for accuracy.
Prepare reports on results of inspection
Formulate recommendations for improvement
Answer incoming calls, route messages, and provide general information about licensing requirements
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
