Pipefitter General Foreman

The Pipefitter General Foreman is responsible for leading and managing pipefitting crews on upstream, midstream, or downstream projects. This role ensures the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems used in the oil and gas production, refining, and transportation. The General Foreman coordinates with engineering, safety, and project management teams to meet deadlines and maintain compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinates activities of piping crews within the oil and gas or maintenance industry.
• Supervises and sets direction for all Foreman and Leadmen on-site to ensure best use of company resources; and adherence to all company policies and state and federal regulations. Provides formal coaching feedback to Foreman.
• Schedules equipment, materials and tools to effectively utilize all resources and to maximize production and minimize costs after becoming familiar with scope of work and site conditions. Collaborates with Pipefitter Superintendent on all scheduled activities.
• Interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and specifications for piping systems.
• Ensure all work complies with API, ASME, and OSHA standards.
• Monitor quality control and ensure proper installation of high-pressure and piping processes.
• Collaborates with welders, inspectors, and other trades to coordinate work.
• Maintain daily logs, progress reports, and timekeeping records.
• Troubleshoot issues related to piping layout, material availability, or crew performance.
• Manages and is responsible for safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project, more particularly for specific discipline. Understands and enforces company, jobsite specific, federal, and state safety regulations on site and addresses any concerns with Ironworker superintendent.
• The General Foreman will be accountable project construction activities and communicating the expectations to craftsman, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Maintain records of labor and equipment production and compare it to the estimate. Communicate with the Pipefitter Superintendent concerning any cost over runs and utilization of the company resources.
• Mentor Foreman on the work discipline such as production costs, scope of work, quality, and safety.
• Maintain and update all crew and equipment matrixes.
• Responsible for holding crew members and foreman accountable for company and project rules.
• Make sure that all SOP's and BPs are followed.
• Responsible for conducting weekly/quarterly safety and quality audits.
• Advance knowledge of the QC process as it pertains to check out process.
• Will be responsible for receiving permits to support the work being performed

Qualifications

• High school or GED required; technical training or NCCER certification preferred.
• 5-10 years of pipefitting experience in the oil and gas industry, with 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of piping systems used in oil and gas facilities (e.g., carbon steel, stainless, HDPE).
• Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, blueprint, and welding procedures.
• Familiarity with hydrotesting, torquing, and flange management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Physical

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., but may occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Hearing and comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions
• Will need to perform sedentary to heavy work
• Will operate office equipment of all types
• Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
• Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, reaching overhead, squatting, sitting or standing and lifting
• Must be able to manipulate and traverse uneven terrain, ladders, and multi-floor buildings with no elevator
• Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
• Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain, Etc.)
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
• Ability to drive cars/trucks as needed

• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/supervision and field workers
• Talking and reading & writing comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy
• Ability to use math/complete calculations
