Job Title: Compliance Investigator Supervisor

Mission Statement: The mission of the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS) is to safeguard life, health, and property and to promote the public welfare of the citizens of Louisiana. The Board accomplishes this by licensing and regulating individuals and firms that offer or provide engineering and land surveying services in the state. About this position: Only current, permanent employees of: DOTD/LA Prof Engineering & Land Surveying Board will be considered. Compliance Investigator Supervisors must possess a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the political, legislative, and legal processes governing these entities, as well as superior oral and written communication skills to effectively articulate and represent the decisions of LAPELS.

Minimum Qualifications: Six years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR a bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR an advanced degree plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information: Success in this position requires:

  • Manage and supervise compliance and enforcement staff.
  • Receive, log, and maintain all complaints of possible violations of Board laws and rules.
  • Ensure all complaints are properly documented with violation dates and dates received to comply with statute-of-limitation requirements.
  • Assign cases to appropriate staff investigators and oversee investigations.

Provide support to staff investigators, including:

  • Ensuring investigations follow Louisiana R.S. 37:681701, LAPELS rules, and Board policies.
  • Authorizing investigative travel when necessary.
  • Coordinating meetings with staff attorneys.
  • Communicating with respondents, other state agencies, and licensing boards in other jurisdictions.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Promotional [Only current, permanent employees of: DOTD/LA Prof Engineering & Land Surveying Board will be considered]

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
