I. GENERAL SUMMARY:
This person attends to the the shelter in the evening and nighttime. This position ensures that our participants and volunteers are welcomed in a safe and secure environment. This position is responsible for the daily routines, consistent application of the rules, and maintaining supplies of the shelter. Depending on the work location and work time, this position allows staff to sleep on duty during part of the night. Shifts vary for the men and women's shelters (see shifts below).
The personnel of the Shelter/Residential Programs of St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge collaborate with St. Vincent de Paul staff by embracing all works of charity and justice. The staff collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them St. Vincent de Paul sees the face of Christ. All personnel of the Shelter/Residential Programs participate actively in the homeless Continuum of Care to coordinate services, maximize guest benefits, and minimize duplication of effort.
