Research Climatologist (Assistant Professor - Research)

The LOSC Research Climatologist (Assistant Professor - Research) must be an aggressive self-starter with a proven track record of applied research in the weather/climate sciences.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Lead research efforts and drive the expansion of the LOSC's suite of data products and tools, with a focus on web-based interfaces. Additionally, lead the development of sophisticated computer code for innovative data products and derivatives as defined by the State Climatologist and the LOSC team.
2. Integrate LOSC resources with LSU faculty to support applied and original research initiatives.
3. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D in a related field.
• Specific Experience: Strong working knowledge in the computer sciences and geo-mapping analysis. Proven track record of applied research in the weather/climate sciences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D in a related field.
• Specific Experience: M.S. in Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences or M.S. in Physical/Environmental Sciences with a Weather/Climate Concentration. Strong working knowledge in the computer sciences and geo-mapping analysis. M.S. in Computational Sciences will be considered with a demonstration of experience in managing weather/climate data.
