As a Operator II, you'll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services uninterrupted. Based in Baton Rouge, LA, you'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the collection system on an assigned shift. You'll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/ wastewater, sludge, and effluent
* Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
* Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings
* Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control
* Trains junior Operations staff.
* Directs the work in the operation and minor maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant
* Starts and stops pump, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
* Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings
* Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses
* Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
* Makes operating decisions in absence of supervisory personnel
* Belt Filter Press operations
* Understands and carries out oral and written directions
* Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
* Performs other duties as required

Here's what you'll need
* Experience operating a wastewater treatment facility
* Experience with sound safety principles and practices
* Experience with computer operations with the ability to prepare spreadsheets and word processing documents, and enter information into maintenance management system
* Possess a valid driver's license with no major infractions
Ideally, you'll also have:
* Possess or able to obtain a Class II wastewater operator certification within 3 years of hire
* Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; principles and methods of biological and chemical sewage analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes, principles of supervision
* Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC's and SCADA systems

The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

48,300.00
Posted Salary Range: Upper
62,800.00

The base salary range for this position is $48,300.00 to $62,800.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
