  • Provide process guidance to process Technicians.
  • Provide daily technical support to operations personnel and collaborate to investigate process deviations
  • Identify and scope projects that improve safety, environmental and reliability
  • Monitor and test processes and products found in all phases of production
  • Daily monitoring of process conditions using available tools – ability to use data to make needed changes to improve efficiency
  • Develop and implement safety procedures for staff working with hazardous materials
  • Design, plan and implement the layout of manufacturing equipment to optimize production and decrease costs
  • Review and document changes in operating procedures.
  • Train shift personnel on changes of procedures and work instructions.
  • Assist in plant shutdown, start-up and turnaround planning and related activities.
  • Document and investigate violations of company policy, standard operating procedures and work practices and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Complies with all Safety Procedures.
  • Available to work extended hours during turnarounds and process upsets
  • Ensures maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with Shintech policies and procedures.
  • Indicates necessary actions when equipment mechanical problems arise.
  • Improves work efficiency working with the Operations.
  • Manages and supports all emergent and urgent work within their area of responsibility
  • Communicates to Operations and Maintenance personnel daily, as required.
  • Manages and optimizes overall spending within their area.
  • Tracks progress of work in their area and documents lessons learned for future process improvements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required

Qualifications and Experience:

Chemical Engineering Degree.

3-5 years' experience of manufacturing or related military experience.

Mechanical aptitude and ability.

Preferred

Masters Engineering or Management.

Self-motivated, able to perform with minimal supervision.

Ability to work within a team environment – understands role and purpose in the overall team.

Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.

High commitment to work processes, procedures, and systems.

Detail minded and delivers quality work products.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Must be able to access all plant areas.
  • Use of PPE required in specific areas.
  • Regularly required to push, pull, bend, and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
  • Climb stairs, straight ladders, and structures, etc.
  • Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
  • Required to be medically certified for respirator and medically fit for duty.
  • Work in different weather conditions, under emergency conditions, and for prolonged periods of time.
