Software Developer

2025-10-18     Affinity Executive Search     Baton Rouge,LA
Description:

We're partnering with an innovative technology company that is developing proprietary, cutting-edge mobile applications for public safety and first responders. This small but mighty team is in growth mode and on the upswing-financially secure, mission-driven, and creating the next generation of products that will directly impact communities across the country.

Joining now means stepping in at the ground level: you'll have visibility, influence, and the opportunity to grow with the company. This is mission-oriented work-helping advance devices that improve civil protection and public service.
Role Overview

We're seeking a versatile Software Engineer who is ready to bring initiative, creativity, and independent thinking to a collaborative team. Android development experience (Java/Kotlin) is highly preferred. However, if you have a strong .NET foundation and a genuine interest in learning Android, the company will support you in gaining those skills.

This is not a role where you'll be micromanaged-you'll be given room to solve problems creatively, take initiative, and have a real impact. You'll also benefit from a balanced work environment: the company encourages onsite collaboration to foster innovation and teamwork, while also supporting flexibility in scheduling and work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Android mobile applications for public safety and law enforcement.
  • Build and support backend systems leveraging .NET, SQL Server, and cloud-based services.
  • Implement AWS networking, cloud architecture, and security best practices.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance performance across applications and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing applications.
  • Contribute to architectural and product decisions as the team and platform expand.
Required Skills & Experience
  • .NET Framework / ASP.NET (required)
  • Android (Java/Kotlin) (preferred; OR strong .NET foundation with willingness and initiative to learn Android)
  • SQL Server and relational database management (required)
  • Front-end frameworks (Angular or React) (preferred)
  • Networking & Cloud (preferred):
    • AWS services including RDS, CloudFormation, EC2, ALB, VPC, CloudWatch, WAF
    • AWS security architecture and monitoring
    • Experience with SIEM environments (Security Information & Event Management)
Other Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Ability to pass a federal background check and drug screening.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently in a small, growing team.
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
Why Join?
  • Ground-Level Growth: Join a company at an exciting stage, with opportunity to grow as the organization scales.
  • Job Security: Financially healthy and stable, with long-term plans for growth.
  • Impactful Mission: Your work directly supports public service and civil protection nationwide.
  • Autonomy & Creativity: Bring ideas, solve problems, and help shape proprietary products without micromanagement.
  • Work-Life Balance: Onsite collaboration that fosters innovation, paired with flexible scheduling and respect for work-life balance.
  • Career Path: Gain exposure to mobile, cloud, and security while positioning yourself for promotion as the team expands.
