Sr. Project Manager role at T. Baker Smith

Position Purpose: The senior project manager is primarily responsible for assisting the Lead Professional grow the discipline in particular region. This position is accountable for project execution, client management and internal leadership & management. The senior project manager works within a market context on client management, within a discipline context on project execution and on internal leadership & management. May or may not be the project professional on a project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams by displaying high levels of engagement and character.
  • Complete associate development plans including career growth goals.
  • Demonstrate solid working knowledge of the TBS Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Coordinate project specific HSES expectations with client and project team.
  • Confirm that a thorough Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is completed daily.
  • Ensure assigned field associates have returned safely at end of each workday.
  • Respond to, investigate, and take corrective action for HSES incidents on assigned projects.
  • Support Lead Professional with mentoring discipline staff.
  • Promote TBS marketing strategy and participation on professional technical abilities and projects.
  • Promote alignment and growth of discipline and region within the TBS Compass.
  • Lead Project Execution (Planning through close out): review and approve contracts; plan projects with the TBS PMP; coordinate resources; schedule field staff and equipment; ensure qualifications and complete field pack; communicate with stakeholders; maintain technical involvement; drive profitability; manage scope; implement changes; ensure complete project files and proper data in Vision; ensure costs are captured and invoices are managed; complete project closeout; promote project management culture.

Projects Execution & Quality Deliverables

  • Review and approve contracts.
  • Plan projects using the TBS Project Management Plan (PMP).
  • Coordinate needed resources with Lead Professional.
  • Deliver projects on or ahead of schedule and on or under budget.
  • Review project status weekly and take corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure standard of care and quality assurance/quality control on all project work.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with the approved scope of work and client standards.

Front Line on Building Trusted Client Relationships

  • Work with market sector leaders, practice leaders and client champions.
  • Support client development activities and keep client champions informed on project status.
  • Ensure client contact reports (CCRs) are completed and debriefs for opportunities are conducted.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Project managers may supervise project technicians, project assistants, project professionals, and field survey associates.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a professional engineer (P.E.) license.
  • 10 years of engineering design experience with a focus in piping/mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to relate to clients and associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy, and listening skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and complex documents.
  • Proficiency with computers and business/technical software.

Work Environment

Office and field environments with typical exposure to environmental factors.

Hours of Work and Travel

This is a full-time position requiring 40+ hours per week. Travel to visit clients, project sites and other office locations; nights away from home and weekend commitments may be required.
