Minimum Qualifications
Two years of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Police Officer 3's at Baton Rouge Community College will provide professional law enforcement services, ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position includes enforcing laws and campus regulations, investigating incidents, responding to emergencies, and assisting in crime prevention efforts.

Protect life and property through active foot patrols, and mobile patrols, enforcing laws and public safety regulations
Report infractions of rules, major crimes or disturbances within assigned areas and take necessary actions.
Investigates accidents, enforces parking and traffic regulations and campus regulations. Issues citations as needed.
Provide first aid and emergency services as necessary.
Interviews employees and public in serious and complex matters requiring criminal investigations, collections of evidence, arrest and testimony in court.
Works on special assignments involving large crowd control operations, surveillance activities, intelligence gathering activities
Conduct crime prevention and security programs, guard services and direct traffic.
Qualifies annually with firearms.

Maintain log of radio, telephone, and wireless communication activities, and monitor alarm systems and other police radio frequencies.
Operates police network computers and dispatches police officers in response to calls
Write reports and other paperwork to document duties performed.
Assist supervisors with compiling information for various reports to be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor etc.

Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probationary appointment with a one-year agency probationary period. Successful completion of this period is required before obtaining permanent status.
