The Cable Technician II is responsible for installing, splicing, and troubleshooting all fiber and copper cables for Phone, data and tv. This position also performs all maintenance of fiber and copper for the outside plant. The Cable Technician II reports to Cable Maintenance Supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (include but are not limited to)Knowledge to locate copper and fiber cables. Performs maintenance of all cables in outside plant, trouble shooting of single trouble reports. Splices all fiber and copper cables for new orders. Installation of fiber splitters. Ability to drive bucket trucks in safe manner which allows Cable Technician to perform pole transfers. Makes necessary tests for toxic and explosive gas before entering manholes and continue tests while active work in progress. Helps with regrades for road moves and rearrangement of copper and fiber facilities. Installs aerial terminals for new installs.
