Description
Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) are conducting a research project on Rio Grande wild turkey harvest and population monitoring in Western Oklahoma. OSU will fill 6 full-time, temporary technician positions to assist with field research from January through April 2026.
Location: Roger Mills and Ellis counties, OK
Salary: $15/hour (plus housing)
Responsibilities include assisting 2 graduate students with capture and handling (including GPS tags) of Rio Grande wild turkeys. Other duties may include deploying/retrieving camera traps and autonomous recording units (ARUs), monitoring tagged birds, investigating mortality sites, data entry, and equipment maintenance. Ability to follow directions, work in teams and independently, and maintain a positive disposition is desired.
Shared housing is provided. Housing includes bunk-bed rooms, shared living room, kitchen, and full bathroom. Technicians provide their own food. Wi-Fi is usually available at the fieldhouse. Housing may be coed and somewhat remote; nearest towns are ~3045 minutes away. Work trucks provided.
