Description:

Genomic Testing Cooperative (GTC) is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to expand the Bioinformatics and Data Science Team. GTC is a cutting-edge, advanced next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based clinical laboratory focused on innovation and advancing diagnostics science. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced environment, involved in all aspects of NGS workflow, including pipeline management, data cleaning, processing, archiving, and server administration. They will also participate in improving operational workflows across departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and updating the Bioinformatics Pipeline to enhance quality and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry and government data handling standards, including CAP, CLIA, and state regulations.
  • Collaborating with other departments to optimize data processing workflows.
  • Learning other laboratory operations such as wet lab protocols, data archiving, and device setup.
  • Engaging with external research and sequencing partners, and vendor technical support.
  • Sharing knowledge with team members and fostering a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Genetics, Physics, or related field, with hands-on experience in NGS data analysis for clinical or research purposes.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Windows server administration, virtualization (HyperV, qemu), and filesystem configuration (Dell EMC Isilon).
  • Basic scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell; familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, BaseSpace.
  • Programming skills in R, Python, Rust, Go, Java, Scala, or C/C++, SQL.
  • Experience with version control (GitHub, GitLab), project management tools (JIRA, Monday, Weka).
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics tools (FASTQC, SAMtools, GATK, etc.) and genomic databases (NCBI, COSMIC, ClinVar, etc.).
  • Knowledge of containerization and workflow management tools (Docker, Nextflow, Kubernetes) is a plus.

GTC is a Limited Cooperative Association offering genomic profiling tests for hematologic and solid tumors using NGS. We foster collaboration among commercial, hospital, and academic labs, committed to making molecular profiling affordable and accessible for cancer patients, with eight tests currently available.
