Business Technology Analyst

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
  • Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
  • An associate's degree in information technology plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
  • A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
  • A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field; OR
  • A master's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
  • NOTE: A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties:

  • Analyze and document business processes to identify opportunities for technology-driven improvements.
  • Develop detailed functional requirements and collaborate with technical teams to design effective solutions.
  • Facilitate communication between business units and IT to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Support system testing, validation, and implementation activities to ensure successful deployment.
  • Monitor post-implementation performance and recommend enhancements based on user feedback and data insights.

Position-specific details:

  • Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotion of permanent classified employee. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
  • Domicile: East Baton Rouge
  • Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Business Technology Analyst 1, 2, or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
