This opportunity entails providing guidance and direction in an area of expertise and functional discipline. The role supports the technical aspects of project development and delivery, including proposal development, scope implementation and change management. You will apply advanced engineering methods, techniques, and analyses to provide solutions, make recommendations and resolve issues. You will ensure industry and HNTB design standards are applied consistently across projects of varying discipline, size, and complexity. You will independently apply knowledge and experience in collaboration with internal project teams and external client counterparts, acting as an advisor on complex projects to provide technical designs, plans and specifications.

What Youll Do

• Perform independent technical reviews, make recommendations, and provide technical guidance on complex or unusual engineering projects; provide direction to resolve technical issues as requested.
• Provide technical expertise and advice to project leadership, and mentor/support to production staff.
• Assist in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation on complex or unusual engineering projects within the discipline.
• Coordinate technical aspects with client counterparts and teaming partners at local leadership levels for work within and across disciplines on complex or unusual engineering projects.
• Develop and advise on technical consistency within and across disciplines on processes and projects.
• Ensure consistent standards and practices are applied.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Youll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience, or
• Master's degree in Engineering and 11 years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience

What Youll Bring

• Serves as the lead technical engineer for large projects of a complex or unusual nature and is recognized as an expert in the technical field.
• Identifies and communicates industry best practices, trends, and risks through presentations, articles, and white papers.
• Serves as a trusted advisor to clients, is sought out for expertise in their given field, and differentiates the firm against competition.
• Represents the firm as a member of industry advisory committees.

What We Prefer

• Master's degree in Engineering
• 20 years relevant experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline)
