Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

REMOTE Labor & Employment Associate (Birmingham Based) at a modern, employee-focused law firm with remote work options.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients, such as pleadings, briefs, contracts, and settlement agreements.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and obligations in the employment context, including compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on a variety of employment law topics.
  • Negotiate settlements for legal disputes in a manner that best represents the client's interests.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including networking events, client seminars, and proposal development.
  • Stay updated on new laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting employment law to provide the most current advice to clients.
  • Collaborate with team members to devise effective litigation strategies.
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
  • Attend in-person depositions and client preparation meetings.
  • Second chair trials.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Valid license to practice law in Alabama (AL).
  • 2+ years of federal employment law experience (including clerkship for a federal or appellate judge).
  • Exceptional legal writing skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise, and effective legal documents.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to resolve disputes favorably for clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to counsel clients and build relationships with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
  • Proven track record of business development and client relationship management.
  • Ability to attend in-person meetings.
