Assistant Director of Admissions/ Application Review & Evaluation

The Assistant Director Application Review and Evaluation position within Louisiana State University's office of admissions will play a key collaborative role in advancing the university and meeting the enrollment objectives. The individual, with general oversight from the Deputy Director of Admissions, will provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and strategies regarding the evaluation of all undergraduate applications throughout the student recruitment cycles to meet institutional undergraduate admission and enrollment goals. The assistant director will serve as a lead administrator to help ensure data integrity and data integration between the CRM and SIS platforms for all undergraduate applications from prospect to enrollment. This position will create and manage quality assurance reports while also developing staff training and conversations to optimize the review, evaluation, and processing of undergraduate student applications. Cooperates with other staff members in the broad context of office operations and planning. This position is also responsible for the management of an assigned recruiting territory, including articulating LSU's message and maintaining communication with prospective students and families, and participating in the holistic application review process.

Application Review (40%)

Identifies emerging problems and implements solutions to leverage current and new technologies for greatest effectiveness in application review operations.

Serves as a member of the admissions leadership team to develop and implement strategic initiatives that support the university's enrollment goals and that all standards are met for all admission criteria.

Utilizes data and reporting to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of application review and data entry for all undergraduate applications.

Provides leadership, training and development for the admissions staff to ensure the highest level of service to prospective students and their families.

Collaborate with admissions leadership and IT teams on clearing strategies, data reporting, and development of skills for staff to ensure compliance with Louisiana governing boards.

Admissions Processing (30%)

Manages all data entry into Workday, including high school credit entry, dual enrollment, advanced credit, transfer applications, and final evaluations.

Ensures quality assurance in all aspects of the admissions process, including accurate GPA entry and processing, application review and evaluation, document management and communication with prospective students and their families.

Utilizes the Workday system to manage all admission functions, including scheduling holds, holds for incomplete documents, and managing data entry.

Develop and maintain relationships with other developments within the division and other campus partners to facilitate internal processes and ensure smooth operations.

Facilitates the transition from Admission to Orientation by ensuring all early credits (AP, IB, CLEP, Dual Enrollment, and credit by ACT/ SAT) are accurately processed, allowing students to be scheduled appropriately and placed into the correct major.

Assist Financial Aid and Scholarships with final documents and aid disbursement.

Coordinate inquiries and submissions for LSU's Academic Common Market program to ensure the program runs smoothly and efficiently.

Manage and maintain communication needs for ACM, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and transactional needs for applications to ensure clear and timely communication with applicants for application completion, yield, and melt strategies.

Admissions Counseling and Evaluation (20%)

Counsels prospective undergraduate applicants and their families regarding LSU academic programs, extracurricular opportunities, admissions policies and procedures. This interaction may include phone, in-person, or written contacts. In-person contacts may include group presentations in addition to individual interviews.

In all counseling situations, employee must be thoroughly knowledgeable about LSU academic and extracurricular opportunities, and clearly articulate advantages of the LSU undergraduate experience. Further, the employee must be accurate in describing admissions policies, criteria and procedures.

Individual must be responsive to prospective students' concerns and needs by providing excellent customer service.

Assists with all phases of the application processing, review and admission decision.

An ability to complete timely review of applications from an assigned set of high schools and assists others as needed. File review activities include monitoring files for completeness, ensuring accurate and fair decisions, fielding questions from applicants, and notifying the secondary readers of significant exceptions requiring review.

Territory Recruitment (10%)

Represents the university and its programs to the general public at in-state and out-of-state recruitment events, including high school and college visits, college fairs, visits to schools and community-based organizations, receptions, interviews, information sessions, and presentations.

Assists in data analysis when planning trips to assigned territory/geo-markets.

Builds and cultivates key relationships and partnerships with constituents, such as: secondary school communities, community-based organizations, Alumni, and professional organizations.

Performs detailed and personalized outreach to prospective students such as: phone calling, emailing, and other communications as needed.

Assists in executing all large on-campus and off-campus recruitment and yield events.

Participates in transfer admission and recruitment activities as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Three or more years of progressive experience in college admission or digital marketing

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree.

Special Qualifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license and background check which includes a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report. Must be willing to travel and work nights/weekends especially during peak periods.

Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
