General Summary
General Summary: The Community Park Coordinator is a working supervisory position that is usually assigned specifically to one BREC park, ensuring that the facility conditions provide an opportunity for a positive experience. They coordinate and perform maintenance; organize and schedule employees; supervise work and activities throughout the park This person is a resource of information for the public to answer questions regarding amenities, rules, rentals, and the park system. Provides onsite presence for public information and can quickly respond to problems. Acts as site leader for assigned group (1-4 employees).

Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Two years trade school or college
Area of Study (major) Required: Horticulture, agronomy, park operations, sports turf maintenance, or related field
Certification(s) Required: N/A
License(s) Required: Valid LA Class E Driver's License
Years Relevant Work Experience: 2 years related work experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred: 5 years related work experience; at least 3 years full-time at BREC.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic principles, practices, equipment, tools, and materials as they relate to the general custodial and maintenance of parks and facilities related to assigned area.
- Skill in performing repair and maintenance work in public outdoor/recreation setting is required.
- Skill in the operation of hand tools & variety of commercial type equipment involved in grounds maintenance
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to others in a positive manner are required.
- Must have a positive attitude with the willingness and desire to learn new skills

- Mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills are required.

- Ability to perform all duties of the Community Park Facility Attendant.

Functions and Duties Essential Functions and Duties:- Supervises and organizes work of assigned staff.
- Schedules rotation of employees to provide a presence in the assigned park during daylight hours, seven days a week, per supervisor's approval.
- Projects strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to others to project a positive image for BREC and
- Community Park Attendants working alongside him/her.
- Communicates information and schedules to public/Community Park Attendant about BREC programs, facilities, rules, athletic fields, and park amenities.
- Maintains and updates informational boards, kiosks, and assists other departments in posting
- reservation signs for public viewing.
- Inspects and patrols parks, recognizes and responds to maintenance needs and patron's needs.
- Ensures safety of site by removing hazards and communicating with supervisor/Park Rangers and/or law enforcement authorities as needed regarding unsafe situations and or conditions.
- Keeps site clean at all times.
- Communicate with supervisor regarding needed maintenance and or supplies.
- Operates commercial type riding mowers, trucks; golf carts; trailers, pressure washers, trimmers, blowers, and other related grounds maintenance equipment to maintain parks.
- Cleans, maintains, prepares equipment for operations. (Washes, sweeps, fuels, lubricates, preventative maintenance, etc.)
- Inspects, repairs, maintains daily work records, and maintains playground equipment.
- Cuts tree limbs, prunes shrubs, maintains landscape beds.
- Performs lake maintenance, from land, wading, or by boat.

LIFE INSURANCE: All full-time employees are insured under a Group Term-Life Insurance policy through Equitable Life Insurance Company a subsidiary of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. Coverage is subject to decrease at age 65 and 70. There is no cost to the employee except for salaries more than $50,000 which are subject to the imputed income clause under the IRS regulations. Coverage is effective immediately.
RETIREMENT SYSTEM: BREC contributions to the City-Parish Employees' Retirement System for each employee amount to 37.41% of salary. Employees contribute at the rate of 9.5%. Retirement contributions are tax deferred. Personal contributions are kept on account and refunded if employees leave BREC before their retirement. Additional benefit opportunities are available after 25 years through the DROP program. BREC also offers a Supplemental Retirement DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN through payroll deduction.
HOLIDAYS: BREC employees receive twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE: BREC employees accumulate sick leave at the rate of 100 hours per year the first five years they are employed; accrual of hours will increase based on the number of years of service, thereafter, up to 192 hours for 15 or more years. Employee is eligible to utilize leave after 30 days of continuous employment.
ANNUAL LEAVE: BREC employees earn annual leave at the rate of 100 hours per year the first five years they are employed; accrual of hours will increased based on the number of years of service, thereafter, up to 192 hours for 15 or more years. Employee is eligible to utilize leave after 90 days of continuous employment.
FULL-TIME STATUS: Upon completion of a six-month probationary periods and approval of supervisor, full-time status will be achieved.

FSA: BREC offers an FSA that allows employees to contribute a portion of their regular earnings before taxes. Distributions from the account must be used to reimburse the employee for qualified expenses related to medical and dental services.
