Job Description:
The Health Information Technology (HIT) Computer Analyst II is the on-site technical support to end users at the Student Health Center (SHC). Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, monitoring and resolving support tickets, performing workstation maintenance, maintaining Active Directory (AD) and group policies (GPO), and overseeing IT inventory and vendor coordination. The analyst safeguards system security and optimal performance of health information systems, including electronic health records (EHR), while collaborating with IT staff and external vendors. This position supports the division's core values by advancing internal IT processes and promoting seamless healthcare operations while cultivating a working relationship with Our Lady of the Lake Health.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
System Support - 35%
Provide technical assistance to SHC employees for troubleshooting and resolving issues related to hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Address user-reported issues and ensuring seamless system functionality for electronic health record (EHR) systems. Serve as the single point of contact for end-user technical support, managing tickets and escalating issues as necessary. Conduct system upgrades and installations, ensuring compatibility and minimal disruption to SHC operations.
Maintenance & Infrastructure - 30%
Perform routine system maintenance to ensure optimal performance, including updates, patches, and security protocols. Monitor system performance, identifying potential issues and preemptively addressing risks before they affect operations. Assist with backups, disaster recovery plans, and system redundancies to protect against data loss and system outages. Collaborate with IT teams and external vendors to maintain the integrity of SHC infrastructure, ensuring hardware and network stability. Mentor student workers, ensuring they develop essential IT skills and assist with daily operations and ongoing projects. Manage and audit user access and permissions in Active Directory, including security groups, secondary accounts, shared resources, and managed software, ensuring proper access levels and compliance with security protocols.
Internal Administration - 15%
Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures to support internal IT operations. Maintain hardware and software inventory, ensuring systems are up to date, replaced at proper cycles, sanitized and wiped during the surplus process, and adequately supported by licenses and warranties. Contribute to IT policy development, ensuring compliance with SHC and university standards on system security and data privacy. Assist with IT projects related to infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and other initiatives, ensuring timely execution and alignment with SHC goals. Track and report on system performance metrics and ticketing system, helping identify trends and areas for improvement.
Communication Management - 15%
Serve as a liaison between SHC users and the IT department, ensuring clear communication regarding system updates, outages, ongoing projects, and technical issues. Provide clear, timely updates to SHC staff on support requests, system issues and performance, upcoming maintenance, and changes to network drives, printers, and shared resources. Develop and distribute user guides and training materials, enabling staff to better understand system functionalities and self-solve common issues. Participate in regular meetings with IT staff and external partners to discuss ongoing projects, system needs, and improvements. Communicate ticketing trends and system updates to the IT Manager, highlighting improvement areas and enhanced system performance opportunities.
Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. This includes but is not limited to efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including engaging in in-service opportunities for the division, and other special projects.
