Job Description:
The Project Controls Specialist/Project Scheduler is an integral part of the successful execution of complex and large-scale construction projects. Under the supervision of the Project Manager and/or Project Controls Manager, this role is responsible for the following:
Developing and maintaining project schedules
Developing and maintaining project progress tracking systems
Generating project reporting and deliverables
Coordinating with customer project controls representatives
Assisting with development and negotiation of change orders, overhead extensions, claims/disputes, etc.
Developing and maintaining project controls processes including but not limited to, document control, cost controls, and material tracking/procurement
Understanding the project scope of work, contract documents and project controls requirements
Assisting field supervision with technical queries and workface planning
Overseeing, training, and evaluating junior project controls personnel (as required)
Perform regular job walks to evaluate progress and site conditions
Skills and Qualifications:
Degree in Construction Management or a related technical degree
Approximately three (3) to ten (10) years' experience in industrial construction project controls
Strong proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Word and Excel
Understanding or proficiency in Microsoft Access and general database implementation
Proficiency in reading drawings and understanding technical documents
Strong understanding of project processes and their interdependence
Strong technical writing skills
Ability to work with other professionals with varying personalities and backgrounds
Willingness to listen to and learn from other highly skilled construction professionals
Willingness to travel and work overtime (as necessary)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit at a desk environment for many hours in a day
Ability to regularly and consistently use a keyboard and mouse
Ability to walk up and down stairs and around a jobsite
Ability to lift 25 pounds
Ability to proficiently use office equipment (computer, copier, scanner, etc.)
