The primary function of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office (EBRSO) is to provide for the safety and security of the community and visitors through effective law enforcement and detention services. Additionally, the EBRSO collects property taxes as set by the East Baton Rouge Assessor's Office and distributes those funds to all the taxing entities.

As Human Resources Director, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our employees, organization and community. You will be responsible for developing and implementing HR plans that align with the organization's overall goals and objectives. You will oversee multiple aspects of HR, including employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, and HR compliance. You will also serve as an advisor to the leadership team on HR-related matters. You will lead and develop the HR Staff to ensure efficient and effective service for our employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support the company's goals and objectives.
  • Manage employee relations, address employee concerns, and ensure a positive work environment.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.
  • Develop and implement performance management systems, assist supervisors with providing feedback and coaching to employees.
  • Lead and develop the HR team, providing coaching and mentoring.
  • Track and analyze HR metrics to identify trends.
  • Oversee HR operations, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of HR experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership. Experience working in a public sector organization with 24/7 operations staffing, especially law enforcement, is preferred. They must have expertise in HR operations, employee relations, compensation, and benefits with a strong understanding of HR laws and regulations. They will have proven experience in developing and implementing HR strategies and the ability to manage multiple priorities. They must have excellent decision-making, communication and leadership skills.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package that includes a pension, 100% employer paid health, vision and life insurance for our employees, Dental, Disability, Cancer, Accident and Critical Illness insurance coverage for employees and their families is available for employee purchase through payroll deductions, as well as a free Employee Health Clinic, Employee Assistance Plan (EAP), and Paid-time-off (PTO).

Starting pay will be $90,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
