Waggoner Engineering is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineering Manager for our Baton Rouge, LA office. This role serves as the technical expert in roadway design, mentors design staff, and manages roadway project delivery. The position involves working primarily in Louisiana, with opportunities across Waggoner's 19 offices in 6 states. Occasional travel may be required. This is an office-based role, not field-oriented.

Summary/Objective: To provide quality planning, design, and technical assistance in delivering projects within budget and schedule, leveraging roadway design, project management, and business development experience.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform engineering analysis and design for roadways, intersections, and related infrastructure, including new construction and rehabilitation.
2. Apply principles of roadway engineering per LaDOTD and local guidelines.
3. Design traffic signalization for roadway and intersection improvements.
4. Design stormwater management facilities for roadway drainage.
5. Prepare construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
6. Engage in construction phase engineering and site reviews.
7. Understand constructability and traffic sequencing impacts.
8. Maintain communication with clients throughout projects.
9. Conduct project reviews, monitor progress, and ensure quality control.
10. Prepare engineering studies and reports.
11. Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
12. Develop project designs using appropriate engineering software.

Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise roadway project managers and design staff, collaborating with engineering and CADD teams, reporting to the Transportation Director.

Work Environment: Office-based, collaborating with management, project managers, and staff to deliver roadway plans and specifications.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in engineering.
• PE licensure in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain it.
• Certifications such as PTOE and Traffic Control Supervisor are advantageous.

Experience:

• At least 8 years of roadway design and management experience as a licensed PE.
• Experience with LA DOTD projects; experience with local municipalities or other Gulf Coast DOTs is also valued.
• Project and team management skills.
• Knowledge of roadway engineering resources like AASHTO, MUTCD, and LA DOTD manuals.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation; OpenRoads or Inroads is a plus.
• Strong MS Office skills; familiarity with ProjectWise and Deltek is beneficial.
